A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
The Installation of Officers was held on January 5, 1934 and was attended by over 300 people. The refreshments downstairs had to be served in shifts to accommodate all of the people. Later in the month there was a discussion about bringing in professional entertainment, trying to get people to attend Lodge on a regular basis, the Brethren present was also informed by the Master that it was the duty of all Mason's to attend Lodge on a regular basis, and that their attendance was a great help to the Master.
In March there was a motion and vote to buy some new equipment for the kitchen and the Master recessed the Lodge so all may go down to the kitchen and see first hand what they were discussing. The motion carried. The next month they had a discussion about the renting of the Lodge to another group of Lodge members. After some lengthy talks they decided to not rent the Lodge to anyone. The next order of business was to allow the trustees to take care of the business of renting the hall. A tradition that is still in effect today.
Several requests for relief had come into the Lodge in the past several months. This seems to be further evidence that times were tough and many members were having a hard time after the great depression. In Grand Lodge in October, they were informed that we had losses of brethren statewide of 4,363 and if the trend continued we would become extinct in less then 10 years. (So this is where they keep getting this stuff, we hear this almost every year now!) Also in November they expressed a desire for dishes in the dining hall, I can only assume that is the same set of dishes we are still breaking today! :)
